12 Hole C Major Bass Ocarina "Harmony"

I love this Instrument, and have played it for a few hours at this point.

The Pro's:

You can tell this Ocarina is quality the moment you pick it up, its Hefty un-like the cheap ones you can find at other outlets. This ocarina has a wall thickness of around 3/8 of an Inch (about 2.5 - 4 mm). With that though, it comes with a slight con I'll circle back to.

The tones are true if played with good breath control, and the ergonomics make this Ocarina easy on the hands to play, and I have small hands.

The Tone and Timbre are just amazing, it has a low, slightly breathy Drone to it. However, that drone comes with some awesome overtones that give a Celestial or Ethereal tone. It sounds somewhere between an Alto Flute and a Concert flute.

It comes with a string to slip over your head to keep a disaster from occurring if it is ever dropped. However, this is also sort of a con ill mention in the next section.

The Cons:

It has some heft to it. I know I said that's a pro above, but this comes into play because it can cause your arms to get tired after a long play session, but it sounds amazing. This is mostly something to keep in mind rather than to be a complete turn off from this instrument.

Without good breath control you will be all over flat and sharp when playing, but this is also good because you will learn how to control your breath if this is your first Ocarina.

The String supplied to use as a Neck-Strap is not comfortable at all. This Ocarina is about 10" long, its as long as my entire forearm from wrist to elbow. It weighs in at 1 lb 9.5 oz (726 grams). even though its a large, Heavy Ocarina, The string supplied is thinner in Diameter than your average phone charger cable, and let me tell you, that is some serious weight to have supported by a string around your neck for a while. I believe it would benefit from having a wider detachable neck strap not unlike what comes with a Yamaha Saxophone, which is just a Nylon strap about an inch wide with a clip at the end. That would distribute the weight a bit better. The string could still be used, but made shorter and tied to a metal ring that the neck strap attaches to.

I'm petite with small hands and feel most comfortable with a soprano ocarina, so I was nervous about trying a bass model. This one is relatively lightweight and surprisingly easy to play. No regrets about this purchase!

This bass ocarina sounds great. A little taking used to the bigger holes to keep them covered, but sounds great when you do it correctly.
