    Perfect book for beginners

    Good intro to playing 6-hole ocarina and reading music

    I got the CD version of this as part of the FUNdamentals learning bundle, and it's great!

    The 100 page method book is great for beginners and teaches both how to play the ocarina and how to read sheet music (not tabs). Each lesson has practice exercises, songs, and tips for correct playing. Music theory is introduced and explained as needed.

    The 32-track demonstration CD plays songs that are in the method book, with an ocarina playing over accompanying music. The tracks don't feature a count-in measure before playing but start immediately, which makes it more for example than practicing with (at least for child students). Adults or experienced musicians could jump in once they have the tempo memorized.

    I would recommend buying this if you are a new musician. Musicians who have played other woodwind instruments and can read sheet music probably don't need the method book and can make do with the instruction booklet that comes with the 6-hole ocarina purchase.

    Good Resource

    Even though I haven't completely gone through the book yet, I do like this so far since I don't know anything about playing an ocarina. I recently bought both a 12 hole and 6 hole ocarina from STL and I look forward to continuing to understand how to play them. I like how simple the directions are to follow and the exercises they use in this book for teaching.
